The Transmitter Thurnau is a medium wave transmission facility for broadcasting Deutschlandfunk radio programmes, on 549 kHz, near Thurnau in Northern Bavaria, Germany.
The Transmitter Thurnau was established in 1980. Until 1996 it was powered with 200 kilowatts but is now powered by 100 kilowatts. The Transmitter Thurnau aerial consists of an insulated, guyed steel framework radio mast, 240 metres in height,
