  1. redirect
A transvasement is an artificial passing of water from one river basin to another one, to solve problems of hydrographic imbalance. It can decrease floods and droughts.

There are several transvasements in China, the oldest of which is the Lingqu Canal, which connects the Pearl River and the Yangtze River by way of the Xiang and Lijiang rivers. A new project, named Nanshui Beidiao (literally "southern water diverted to the north"), was launched very recently in China to divert water from Pearl River and Yangtze River in southern and central China to Yellow River and Hai River in northern China.

There are some transvasements in Spain: Transvasement Tajo-Segura, between Tajo and Segura rivers.

In the U.S. : Colorado River Aqueduct.
