Encyclopedia : T : TR : TRE : Treaty of Jedda
There have been two treaties known as the Treaty of Jedda, after the Saudi Arabian city Jeddah (also known as Jedda, Jiddah, etc.).
- The 1927 Treaty of Jedda established the independence of present Saudi Arabia from protectorate under the United Kingdom. The treaty was signed on May 20, 1927, and recognized the sovereignty of King Abdul Aziz over what was then known as the Kingdom of Hijaz and Nejd; these regions were unified into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932.
- The 2000 Treaty of Jedda resolved a border dispute between Saudi Arabia and Yemen dating back to Saudi boundary claims made in 1934.
