Trotter can mean a number of things:
People
- DeeDee Trotter, an African American track and field athlete.
- Jeremiah Trotter, an African American football player.
- William Trotter, an African-American newspaper editor and protest leader.
Other uses
- A horse which races harness racing using a gait called the trot.
- The feet of pigs, which are used as offal. In most cases trotters are boiled for long periods, so the bones soften enough to be eaten along with the skin and meat.
- The nickname of English football team Bolton Wanderers F.C..
- In the earliest unpublished versions of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, the character who became Aragorn was called Trotter instead of Strider and was a hobbit instead of a man; see The History of The Lord of the Rings.
- A type of penny loafer, sold by the Penobscot Shoe Company based out of Old Town, Maine.
