Trujillo Alto is a municipality of Puerto Rico that was founded in 1801. Trujillo Alto holds its festivities in September, and in 2001, it conmemorated its 200 year history. Each year Trujillo Alto celebrates "El maratón del Arrecostao", which is a very popular marathon in the city. Trujillo Alto has no important tourist attractions, but it is part of the metropolitan area of Puerto Rico which consists of 6 other cities. It has a land area of 53.74 km² (20.75 sq mi) and a population of 75,728 as of the 2000 census. It is Puerto Rico's tenth largest municipality by population.
