Trust Company (band)
Encyclopedia : T : TR : TRU : Trust Company (band)
Trust Company (also depicted as TRUSTcompany and TRUST*CO) was a four-piece music group from Montgomery, Alabama. The band was formed in 1997 under the name "41 Down", but was changed prior to the release of their first album after signing to Geffen Records – so they weren't to be confused with the popular Canadian band Sum 41.
Biography
The formation of the band came together in 1997 through Kevin Palmer and Jason Singleton, who met after school where they played in a band together, before they parted ways to form their own groups. They came back together and recruited Josh Moates, playing at numerous gigs in a bid to get recognized, and subsequently signed. James Fukai was recruited in 2000, and the band ultimately signed with major record label, Geffen Records. The band released their debut major-label album, The Lonely Position of Neutral, on July 23, 2002. The album was well received with moderate success, and the singles "Downfall" and "Running From Me" gained some strong radio airplay. The record was certified Gold by the RIAA, and the band went on to tour with artists such as 30 Seconds To Mars and Papa Roach.
Trust Company released their sophomore album, True Parallels, on March 22, 2005. However, the album was originally slated to hit the shelves during the summer of 2004, with some pressings of the CD including the band's cover of "Rock the Casbah" by The Clash. They were also involved with the Music For Relief program, a coalition of musician's concerned with the 9.0 Earthquake in the Indo-China area.
Despite the delay in releasing True Parallels, and little support from Geffen Records to promote the album, it entered the Billboard Charts at #32 and has gone on to sell approximately 200,000 copies in the United States.
In August 2005, it was announced that singer/guitarist Kevin Palmer had left the band due to personal issues. The band broke up soon after. However, Kevin Palmer and Josh Moates have recently formed a new band called Amity Lane, which are signed to growing Californian indie-label, Corporate Punishment Records.
