A trustee in bankruptcy ("TIB"), in United States bankruptcy law, is a person appointed by the Bankruptcy court to oversee the distribution of the assets of a bankrupt to his creditors. The TIB is usually an attorney with some expertise in the area of bankruptcy law, and is paid a percentage of the funds available in the estate of the bankrupt.
