Encyclopedia : T : TS : TSI : Tsim Sha Tsui (MTR)

Tsim Sha Tsui (Chinese: 尖沙咀, Jyutping: Zim1 Sa1 Zeoi2, Pinyin: Jiānshāzuǐ) is an MTR station on the . The station, originally opened in 1979 on the , serves the area of Tsim Sha Tsui. About 500,000 passengers (including those who use single-journey tickets and Octopus cards) use this station daily.

East Tsim Sha Tsui Station on the KCR East Rail, opened on 24 October 2004, is connected to this MTR station. The station now serves as the interchange station between the East Rail, and was once planned to be the future interchange to the once-proposed Canton Road Station of the Kowloon Southern Link - an extension of the KCR West Rail.

Platforms

Platforms 1 and 2 share the same island platform. Passengers wishing to change to the East Rail should take the escalator up to the concourse, and leave the MTR system. Then they have to exit through Exit F or G, and walk along the Middle Road or Mody Road subway system respectively to reach the East Tsim Sha Tsui station.

Entrances/exits

Tsim Sha Tsui Station is linked with East Tsim Sha Tsui KCR Station through the Mody Road and Middle Road Subways. When both stations' exits are combined, the total number of exits outnumber even that of Central. East Tsim Sha Tsui Station has the honor of having the exit with the highest letter of all rail stations in Hong Kong!
