Tsort is a fictional place on Terry Pratchett's Discworld. It is featured heavily in Pyramids and Eric.
Geography and History
Tsort is a desert kingdom on the continent of Klatch. A neighbour of Djelibeybi and a historical enemy of Ephebe. The enmity began with the famous Tsortean war, when King Mausoleum of Tsort kidnapped Queen Eleneor of Ephebe, leading to a siege that lasted for decades (a parody of the Trojan War). To this day Tsort and Ephebe believe there is a place for giant wooden horses in combat.Tsort is known for the silent marshes of the Tsort river and the Great Pyramid, although it has to be pointed out that pyramid-building belonged to a much earlier phase of the country's history and - no doubt because of the example of nearby Djelibeybi - modern Tsorteans scorn the things. The ancient city of Tsort was put to the torch by, it is thought, the armies of Ephebe under Lavaeolus. Tsort was also home and eponym of the famed Tsortean Knot until the Knot was undone — sliced in half — by Carelinus (see the Gordian Knot).
Religion
The people of Tsort worhip all manner of gods, some of which seem to have been built of all the bits the creators of other gods had left over. The River Tsort
The chocolate-brown, slow-moving waters of the river Tsort bisect the desert rimwards of Al Khali. Famed in myth and lies, it insinuates its way through the brown landscapes like a long, damp descriptive passage punctuated with sandbanks. And every sandbank is covered with sunbaked logs, most of which have teeth.
