Tsou Yen

Tsou Yen pinyin : Zōu Yǎn (305 BC - 240 BC) was the leading exponent of the Yin and Yang school of Chinese philosophy. His teachings combined the idea of the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) with a cosmology based on recurring cyclics. Tsou Yen lived in Ch'i (now Shantung), and is mentioned in the Records of the Grand Historian by Sima Qian.
