Tsubame (燕市; -shi) is a city located in Niigata, Japan.
The Old City of Tsubame
As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 43,383 and the density of 1,104.74 persons per km². The total area is 39.27 km².The city was founded on March 31, 1954.
On March 20, 2006, the old Tsubame merged with Bunsui and Yoshida from Nishikanbara District to form the new city of Tsubame.

This data introduces about the former city of Tsubame, which existed from March 31, 1954 to March 19, 2006.
(Former) Tsubame city hall was located to their current Tsubame Satellite Office (2-7-27, Hakusan-Cho), but prior to this merger, the office is now located at the (former) Yoshida Town Hall.
The New City of Tsubame
The new Tsubame City Hall is now located on the former Yoshida Town Hall and their old Tsubame City Hall is now used as a satellite office.As of 2006, the new city has an estimated population of 84,697. The total area of the new city is km².
