Tukulti-Ninurta I

Tukulti-Ninurta I, reigned 1233 BC–1196 BC, was a King of Assyria.
He succeeded Shalmaneser I, his father, as Assyrian King. Tukulti-Ninurta I defeated Kashtiliash IV, King of the Kassites. In wars against Kassites, he managed to capture Babylon. Kashtiliash IV was captured and deported to Assyria. After a rebillion in Babylon, he plundered Babylon's temples, and later began to built new city Kar-Tukulti-Ninurta. However, his sons rebelled against him and besieged him in his new city. During the siege he was murdered. His son Ashur-nadin-apli succeeded him on the throne.
He expanded his influence on southeast, to the today Persian Gulf, and in Armenia on northeast. After his death Assyrian Empire began to decline.
