Tuned percussion
Encyclopedia : T : TU : TUN : Tuned percussion
The term Tuned percussion refers to any number of percussion instruments that are tuned to and played in a particular pitch.
Tuned percussion instruments include tympani, xylophone, vibraphone, marimba, steel drums, glockenspiel, and many others.
Tuned, vs. untuned
It may be noted that some players of untuned percussion use particular notes for tuning, and some even insist that a particular drum resonates best at a specific note; none the less, those type of instruments are generally heard by most ears as having not specific tone attached to it.
