Tutu (album)

Encyclopedia : T : TU : TUT : Tutu (album)

Tutu is an album released in 1986 by Miles Davis on the Warner Brothers label. Named in tribute of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the first black Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa, the album heavily utilizes electronic instruments and synthesizers. The track "Full Nelson" refers to Nelson Mandela. Miles had originally been planning to collaborate with Prince on the album, but it failed to work out. It was produced by Tommy LiPuma and Marcus Miller, with Miller writing all the arrangements, except George Duke arranging and co-producing "Backyard Ritual" with Tommy LiPuma. "Perfect Way" is a cover of the original Scritti Politti song.
