Two Evil Eyes

Encyclopedia : T : TW : TWO : Two Evil Eyes

Two Evil Eyes (Italian title Due occhi diabolici) is a 1991 portmanteau horror film written and directed by the Italian Dario Argento and American George A. Romero. The two had previously worked together on the immensely popular Dawn of the Dead in 1978.

The film is split into two separate tales based largely on the work of Edgar Allan Poe. Romero's "The Facts in the Case of Mr. Valdemar" stars Adrienne Barbeau and showcases his traditional mix of horror with social commentary, especially capitalism. Argento's "The Black Cat" stars Harvey Keitel and blends a number of Poe references into an all new narrative.

Romero collaborator Tom Savini provides the film's special effects and appears briefly in "The Black Cat."
