Tychy (pronounce: Ltspkr.png [['tixi]], German: Tichau) is a city in southern Poland with a population of 132,600. Situated in the Silesian Voivodship (since 1999), previously in Katowice Voivodship (1975-1998). Tychy is an important center of beer production (Tyskie beer) and automotive industry.

Location

Tychy is located about 20 km south of Katowice in the Upper Silesian Industrial Area near the Vistula river. The city borders with Katowice in the north, Mikołów in the west, Bieruń Stary in the east and Kobiór in the south.
