Type-II superconductor

Encyclopedia : T : TY : TYP : Type-II superconductor

A Superconductor with a Coherence Length that is smaller than the London penetration depth. This allows bundles of magnetic flux lines to pierce the material at high external fields. This is known as the vortex state as the flux lines runs through narrow regions of non supercounducting material, surrounded by vortices of supercurrents protecting the rest of the superconductor.
