U.S. Championship V'Ball

Encyclopedia : U : US : USC : U.S. Championship V'Ball

U.S. Championship V'Ball is a 1988 arcade game by Technos. It is a beach volleyball game, though not a realistic one: In addition to its comic book-like character graphics, the game features the ability to spike the ball hard enough to send the opposing player flying backwards (with accompanying onomatopeic graphics), while the ball bounces off him, sometimes even flying outside the playing field. In 1989, it was ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System with the name Super Spike V'Ball for the American release, while the Japanese one retained the original title. The port was not a direct one, with the NES version adding new player characters, among other things.
