U.S. Highway 27 Alternate is a signed north-south but primarily east-west route running between Perry and Williston, and is co-signed with US 19/98 between Perry and Chiefland

It is one of the primary routes between northwest and central Florida, having been recently been four-laned along its entire route. With a signed speed limit of 65mph, this gives it more capacity than the mostly-two-lane "regular" US 27.
