United Nicaraguan Opposition

The United Nicaraguan Opposition or UNO, was a coalition party that ran in the 1990 elections in Nicaragua. Made up of 14 political parties and led by Violeta Chamorro, the group was united solely by its opposition to the Sandinistas. The coalition was victorious, winning 55% of the vote and Chamorra became president. Despite the elections being generally regarded as free and fair, the UNO has been accused by the Sandinistas of being funded and supported by the US. [link]
