Universiade

The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a combination of the words "University" and "Olympiad". The Universiade is often referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games.

For 2011, Shenzhen is the candidate of the People's Republic of China [link]. On June 28, 2006, the official bid book has been sent to the FISU HQ to confirm its bid. So far, other interests have come from Brazil, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Ireland and Poland.Also, for 2011, Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei, submitted its candidate dossier to host the 26th Summer Universiade on June 28, 2006, too. Right now, the island's second-largest city is in preparation mode for the 2009 World Games.
