Utheemu dynasty

The first king Muhammed Thakurufaan of the Utheemu Dynasty, in the Maldives, was proclaimed king in the year 1573 AD. The dynasty was named after the northern Maldives island of Utheemu, birthplace of Thakurufaan. Eleven more sultans ruled during this dynastic period which ended in 1692.
