Van is one of the many small communities on West Virginia State Route 99, which winds through valley after valley staying close beside the Little Coal River. Van is mostly residential with a small grocery store, a gas station, and a few churches, and a pizza take out. The population of this town would probably be under 300 people. Van is a town where everybody knows everyone.
