Varekai
Encyclopedia : V : VA : VAR : Varekai
Varekai is a Cirque du Soleil touring production that premiered in Montreal in 2002. Its title means "wherever" in the Romany language, and the show is an "acrobatic tribute to the nomadic soul". The plot is based loosely on the Greek myth of Icarus.
The experiences of the initial cast during the creation of the show were portrayed in the Emmy Award-winning series, Fire Within (featured on the Bravo Network).
Varekai will complete its first North American tour this year; its last stop will be in Vancouver, Canada from June 22 to July 23. It debuts in Australia in August 2006, arriving in New Zealand in early 2007 and visiting the remaining Australian cities throughout that year.
