Vehicon

Vehicons are one of the many sub-groups of Transformers, appearing only in the animated cartoon series Beast Machines. Vehicons are in a way a homage to the original groups of Transformers; as they possess vehicle forms in comparison to the beast forms of Maximals and Predacons (Although it's possible Maximals and Predacons had vehicle forms on Cybertron, having only gained beast forms for the Beast Wars). However, Vehicons are mindless drones, controlled entirely by the will of Megatron or their respective general and assembled from the melted down and recast remains of the slain Transformer population. In the show, there are six specific groups of Vehicon:

Tank-Drones, controlled by Tankor
Jet-Drones, controlled by Jetstorm
Cycle-Drones, controlled by Thrust
Copter-Drones, controlled by Obsidian
Assault-Drones, controlled by Strika
Mole-Drones, controlled by Megatron

The toy-line featured other types of Vehicons, such as Mirage (an experimental high-speed attack warrior), Scavenger (demolition drone), Spy Streak (aerial reconnaissance) and Blastcharge (all-terrain combat). After the destruction of Tankor and Jetstorm, two new generals are designed: a helicopter named Obsidian and a female Cybertronian six-wheeler named Strika. In the BotCon exlusive Wreckers comic, there was also a Tankor repaint called Quake(the comic alludes he's the same Decepticon Targetmaster Quake, since Megatron mentions him as having worked for his "namesake" and his colors are an homage to the original Quake).

The term Vehicon would later be used in the backstory for Takara's Robot Masters line, as the name of the planet of Transformers led by Reverse Convoy, a Transformer whose body was possessed by G1 Megatron.
