Velas (pron. IPA ['vɛlɐʃ]) is a municipality in the São Jorge Island, in the Portuguese autonomous region of Azores.

The municipality is divided into 6 parishes and comprises the western half of the island. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean except for the east.

The six parishes of the municipality are:

• Manadas
• Norte Grande
• Rosais
• Santo Amaro
• Urzelina
• Velas
