Trains, buses and ferries in Auckland operate under the MAXX brand, irrespective of operator.
Operations
Network
Veolia operates over most of the lines within Auckland's rail network. Regular operations run between Waitakere in the north-west to Papakura in the south. The Onehunga Branch is not currently part of operations, although there have been a number of proposals to use the branch for commuter services. The have also been proposals to extend commuter services to Kumeu, on the North Auckland Line in the north.
Rolling stock
Veolia operates the following rolling stock:-
- 9 ADK/ADB class DMUs (ex Transperth);
- 10 ADL/ADC class DMUs (ex Transperth);
- 2 DBR class locomotives (operating at each end of a set of 4 SX carriages);
- 9 DC class locomotives (operating with push-pull sets, consisting of 2, 3 or 4 SA carriages and an SD driving car);
- 3 Silver Fern (RM) railcars;
- 9 sets of SA/SD carriages, with 5 more under order (ex British Rail Mark 2 carriages rebuilt for suburban service);
- 1 set of SX carriages (ex Brisbane).
Previous operator
The previous operator of the train network in Auckland was Tranz Metro. When the ARTA called for tenders for the new contract, Tranz Metro did not tender and Connex won the tender.Since 2004;
- patronage has increased by 30% annually.
- on-time performance has increased from 50% to 90%.
