Veternik

Veternik (Serbian: Veternik or Ветерник, Croatian: Veternik, Hungarian: Hadikliget) is a suburban settlement near Novi Sad in Serbia. It is located between Novi Sad and Futog.
Population
The population of Veternik is 18,611 (2002 census) and most of its inhabitants are ethnic Serbs.
The population of this suburban settlement raised from 9,869 (1991 census) to 18,611 (2002 census) mostly as a result of civil wars in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and post-war immigration from these two countries.
History
It was founded in 1918 as a settlement for veterans from World War I.
Status
Officially, Veternik has a status of a suburban settlement. It is part of the agglomeration of Novi Sad, and it is partially integrated with this city. In near future, Veternik will be fully integrated with Novi Sad.
