Vintage Crop was the most popular flat horse in Ireland from 1992-1995 and one of the most famous horses the country has ever known. He won 16 races in Ireland and England. one of his greatest achevement was winning over 2 miles 2 furlongs in the 1992 Cesarewitch (3yrs+) at Newmarket, by the great Walter Swinburn and cheered on by Irish Fans. He also earned world-wide fame by becoming the first horse from outside Australia to win its greatest race, the Melbourne Cup. He became a huge media star and every time he ran, attracted enormous attention. In human terms he was a modern day rock star. He is comemmorated by a statue in the Curragh racecourse. He is currently retired at the Irish National Stud in Kildare and can be visited by the public.
