Vitality (gaming)
Encyclopedia : V : VI : VIT : Vitality (gaming)
Usually referring to the D&D originated rule-set, vitality commonly represents a characters capacity to take damage. Sometimes vitality merely represents the character fatigue, whereupon the character is only incapacitated when this attribute drops too low.
Vitality has been accepted as a common attribute for almost all RPG based games; although many use a modified form. On the contrary, some games such as [[Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura]] present vitality as a sub-category of another more general statistic such as strength. Even though most RPGs prefer to leave vitality as its own statistic, nearly all applications of vitality correspond to the same basic definition: how many hits one can take.
