Volatility drag

Encyclopedia : V : VO : VOL : Volatility drag

Volatility drag is the estimated mean per period if we invest in an asset over many periods. It shows the longterm behavior of a stock and can be calculated as [mean-(sd^2)/2]. If the volatility drag is positive, this shows that the average return is also positive. Likewise if it is negative, the average return is negative.
