Volodymyr-Volynskyi (Ukrainian: Володимир-Волинський, translit. Volodymyr-Volyns'kyi, Polish: , Russian: ; also referred to as Vladimir-Volynsky) is a historic city located in the Volyn Oblast (province), in north-western Ukraine. Serving as the administrative center of the Volodymyr-Volynskyi Raion (district), the city itself is also designated as a separate raion within the oblast.
The current estimated population is around 38,000 (as of 2004).
The city is located in the historic region of Volhynia. It was a part of Poland from 1340-1795 and from 1919-1939. Austrian authorities referred to it as Lodomeria. During WWII it was the site of a German concentration camp.
