Encyclopedia : V : VO : VOL : Voltio

Voltio (Born Julio Ramos in Santurce, Puerto Rico) is one of the reggaeton genre most known artists. He grew up in the Parque Ecuestre section of Carolina. Having always had something for music, he decided to test his luck in the music business as a teenager. Together with Rey 29 and Héctor Delgado, he formed The Masters of Funk. They didn't release any albums, but helped the reggaeton movement. When the members went their separate ways, Voltio partnered with Karel, a neighboorhood friend, and they formed Karel y Voltio. They released their debut album Los Dueños del Estilo in 2003. The album unfairly languished, however, and the duo's enthusiasm dwindled. Voltio was about to retire from the music business, when Tego Calderón approached him and told him to sign with White Lion Records, of which Tego is one of the main artists. Having tooked Tego's advice, he released the album, Voltage/AC, with the hits "Bumper" and "Julito Maraña". In 2005 Voltio returned with his next album, a self-titled release. It included "Bumper" and "Julito Maraña". It also featured the hit, "Chulin Culin Chunfly". Both albums have sold tremendously well.

Nowadays, Voltio is one of the reggaeton genre brightests stars.
