Summary

Vose's Regiment was formed in 1 January1777 when the 15th Continental Regiment, two companies of the 18th Continental Regiment and two companies of the 6th Continental Regiment were combined and re-organized as eight companies assigned to St. Clair's Brigade. The regiment was re-assigned (and relieved from St. Clair's Brigade) to the Northern Department on 9 February1777. On 13 March1777 the regiment was assigned to the highland's Department and assigned to McDougall's Brigade on 12 June1777 and three days later 15 June1777 was asigned to 2nd Connecticut Brigadeof the Highlands' Department. On 10 July1777 the regiment was re-assigned to the 2nd Massachusetts Brigade. This brigade was re-assigned to the Northern department on 24 July1777. On 7 November1777 the brigade was re-assigned to the main Continental Army. On 22 July1778 the regiment was re-assigned to the Eastern Department and re-organized to nine companies on 1 April1779 and on 7 July1779 the brigade was re-assigned to the Highland's Department and was redesignated as the 1st Massachusetts Regiment on 1 August1779.
