Vympel R-37

The Vympel R-37 (NATO reporting name: AA-X-13 Arrow) is a Russian air-to-air missile designed as a weapon for the Mikoyan MiG-31M interceptor aircraft. It is a further development of the R-33 (AA-9 Amos). The missile is designed to operate over extreme ranges, in excess of 300 kilometres (185 miles). It is intended to shoot down AWACS aircraft from well outside the range of any aircraft which may be guarding them.
