Encyclopedia : W : W1 : W10 : W10BM

W10BM is a low power television station in Morehead, Kentucky, broadcasting on Channel 10. W10BM has never been rebroadcast on other repeater stations (W07BY/W06BC/W02BP/W05CB) of the same owners, and locally on Adelphia cable channel 5. Although applications and fees have been submitted (and accepted), the FCC's database indicates that the station's licenses have been cancelled. Despite this, station is still on the air.

Programming

W10BM is an affiliate of LeSEA, also known as World Harvest Television. They also air talk radio programs, supplemented with original cartoons and slideshow advertisements, from the Republic Broadcasting Network at night, from Friday through Sunday. W10BM was formerly an affiliate of America One.

The highlight of W10BM's programming, however, is its over 18 hours per week of local programming. W10BM is well-known locally for its call-in show Buy a Dog, Sell a Hog, as well as its broadcasts of alternative media documentaries.

On Sundays, in addition to religious programming from LeSEA, they also air two locally furnished religious programs, Church of Christ's Truth for the World and pre-recoreded previous week's services from the Disciples of Christ.

Buy a Dog, Sell a Hog

Buy a Dog, Sell a Hog is a local "trading post"-type show on W10BM. It may also colloquially-referred to as Hog and Dog or Buy a Dog. This program has also mistakenly been called "Swap Shop".

Buy a Dog, Sell a Hog is a call-in ad show; ads for yard sales, birthdays, anniversarys, etc. are also taken.

Each ad presented has a maximum of three items and each ad stays up for three days.

The evening edition of the show airs Monday and Friday at 7PM, with the Friday edition repeated Sunday evenings at 5:30PM.

Broadcasting Under Cancellation

Due to repeated delays and misunderstandings, the official license for W10BM was cancelled on October 18, 2004. The licenses for all three repeaters were cancelled on August 1, 1998. The station's owners have been working to get this situation resolved as quickly as possible. Local support has helped to keep the station on the air, despite these setbacks. The station's current host and studio manager is open to any usuful ideas to continue this valuable and "independent" community service.
