Encyclopedia : W : WB : WBN : WBNA
WBNA is the i: Independent Television affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky. It is owned by Word Broadcasting Network, Inc., an arm of Evangel World Prayer Center in Louisville. Its transmitter is located near Shepherdsville, Kentucky.
The station signed on in the late 1980s as an independent station offering mostly religious programs and old movies. It was Louisville's original WB affiliate in 1995, but frequently preempted The WB's racier programming. This didn't sit very well with the network, who yanked the affiliation in 1999. WBNA then joined Pax, predecessor of i.
