WBNB-TV
Encyclopedia : W : WB : WBN : WBNB-TV
WBNB-TV is the former CBS affiliate for the U.S. Virgin Islands, broadcasting from a 316 kW transmitter in Charlotte Amalie, on the island of Saint Thomas.
The station was destroyed in 1989 by Hurricane Hugo, and the owners (Brisette Broadcasting) could not afford to rebuild. Benedek Broadcasting, who acquired Brisette the following year, opted to turn in WBNB's license to the FCC for cancellation, instead of rebuilding the facilities.
LKK Group brought CBS programming back to the USVI in 1997, with WVXF on channel 17.
