Encyclopedia : W : WI : WIN : WINK-TV
WINK-TV is the CBS television affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida. It was founded on March 18, 1954. It was the first television station in Southwest Florida and the fifth-oldest station in Florida. It has been owned by the McBride family since its first broadcast. It is the only full-power VHF station in the market, broadcasting its analog signal on VHF channel 11, and is seen on cable channel 5. The station covers Lee, Collier, Hendry, and Glades counties, and is one of 2 Fort Myers stations carried by Comcast Venice. The station's radar is called "Super Doppler".
Anchors
WINK-TV produces 27 hours of local news per week. The primary weekday newscasts at 5:00, 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. are anchored by Lois Thome and Chris Cifatte, along with chief meteorologist Jim Farrell and sports director Clayton Ferraro. WINK's 5:30 p.m. newscast is anchored by Jaime Marti. Morning newscasts from 5:00-7:00 a.m. are co-anchored by Patrick Comer and Stacey Adams with meteorologist Brian Monahan. WINK-TV also airs news at 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. on weekends. Weekend newscasts are anchored by Mike Walcher, with meteorologist Scott Zedeker and sports anchors Kirsten Olesen and Kyle Jordan.Sarasota County
WTSP channel 10, the CBS affiliate for the Tampa, Florida area, has a signal that cannot be seen well in Sarasota County (part of the Tampa DMA) because its transmitter is located in Holiday, Florida, which is northwest of Tampa. Viewers without cable must rely on WINK for CBS programming, as its signal reaches most of Sarasota County. WINK-TV's transmitter is located in Punta Gorda, Florida.External links
