WKBU, AKA Bayou 95.7, is a mainstream Rock music outlet serving the New Orleans area. The Entercom station is licensed to Kenner, Louisiana and broadcast at 95.7 MHz with an ERP of 100 kW.
History
Before October 2005, the station was Oldies WTKL. WTKL was at one time Beautiful music WBYU before going through a succession of ill-fated formats from 1987 through 1993.
In early October 2005, WKBU and WTKL (Kool 95.7) switched frequencies because WKBU's original transmitter was badly damaged during Hurricane Katrina.
In May of 2006, Bayou 95.7 changed its slogan from "Rockin' The Bayou" to "Everything That Rocks" and broadened its playlist as the station became the only terrestrial ROCK format in the Crescent City.
