WLPX is the i affiliate for the Huntington-Charleston area. The station is located in Hurricane, West Virginia, in the Kanawha Valley between Charleston and Huntington.
Following the same lead as all other Ion-owned stations, WLPX shows mainly infomercials, with regular programming seen in prime-time and religious and brokered shows sprinkled throughout the schedule.
Actual sign-on date was August 31, 1998. The FCC records show the current WLPX calls assigned in October 1998. Previously, the station's calls were "WKRP" (the same as the fabled radio station in Cincinnati), which were assigned in 1988, but never used on-air.
WLPX is owned by Ion Media Networks, the former Paxson Communications.
