WMKV (89.3 FM) is a radio station in Reading, Ohio. It is the first FM educational public radio station in the U.S. to be licensed to a retirement community. WMKV entertains listeners all over the world with its live webcast. Operating on the campus of Maple Knoll Village, one of the nation's top-rated retirement communities, WMKV features big band music and information regarding activities and services available to older adults. WMKV has been broadcasting since 1995, and winning national and international awards for programming ever since.
WMKV reaches out to the community it serves, as a "companion" to its listeners. In addition to its continuous music segments, the station broadcasts talk and information programming of interest to seniors, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
In November 2004, WMKV was the subject of a front-page Los Angeles Times profile, which led to major gains in its listenership worldwide. The writer, P.J. Huffstutter, had discovered the station while reporting on the 2004 American presidential election.
The station's transmitter has an effective radiated power of 410W.
