WNGT-LP
Encyclopedia : W : WN : WNG : WNGT-LP
WNGT-LP channel 48 is a Low-power broadcasting TV station in Toledo, Ohio, and carries the UPN network for that market.
The station is a Class-A operation, even though the calls still list it as a "-LP".
The station started out as W48AP on March 23, 1987. In its early days prior to becoming a charter UPN affiliate, WNGT carried a mixture of independent programming, plus music videos from "The Box", as well as a large deal of programming from America One.
Allegedly, WNGT is notoriously a TV station that is run on the cheap, with outdated equipment and signal loss when switching VTR machines. The station also has satellite pixelation often, along with Windows menus popping up on-screen from automation.
Also, the station uses the former 'silver shapes' UPN logo on-air, with the current 'slanted circle' logo appearing on the station's website only. [link]
The CW / My Network TV
In the fall of 2006, The CW will begin broadcasting; the network was a result of a merger between The WB and UPN. It was recently announced that WT05 will be Toledo's CW affiliate. Whether WNGT affiliates with My Network TV is yet to be known.Previous Logos
