WTOK-TV is the ABC affiliate for Meridian, Mississippi. The station is owned by Gray Television. WTOK also operates the market's first full FOX affiliate on digital sub channel 49.2.
History
The station began broadcasting on September 27, 1953 as the second television station in Mississippi. It started as an affiliate of both ABC and CBS. It also served as a partial FOX affiliate in the mid 1990s, carrying NFL broadcasts as well as selected FOX programming in late night time-slots. WTOK has always led the eastern Mississippi market in ratings; none of the other stations, all on UHF frequencies, have even come close. During 1991 until 1993, WTOK had once again been Meridian's only Big 3 station. Since 2005, it has been the only station in the area to air local news.
