WTWC-TV
Encyclopedia : W : WT : WTW : WTWC-TV
WTWC is the NBC-TV affiliate station for Tallahassee, Florida, owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group and was started on January 22, 1983 at 7:00 a.m. Before WTWC signed on, Albany's WALB was the NBC affilliate of choice in the Tallahassee area. The station currently runs no full-length newscast; although it did until 2000, it was cancelled due to poor ratings and budget cuts. The newscast was called NBC News 40 at that time. For the next 6 years, WTWC only ran news briefs at 7:27 a.m., 8:26 a.m. (during NBC's "Today Show"), 5:58 p.m. and 6:28 p.m. These were produced in conjunction with Tallahassee's ABC affiliate WTXL-TV, which was operated by Sinclair as a result of an outsourcing agreement made by Media Ventures Management and inherited by Calkins Media. These newsbriefs ended February 20, 2006, when both stations parted ways with each other after Media Ventures sold WTXL. [link]
