WXJM is a student-run radio station owned by James Madison University with a broadcasting area covering the Harrisonburg, Virginia, area. The station's FM frequency is 88.7 MHz, and it went live in 1990. WXJM plays music from a variety of genres and also airs talk shows. Since it is a public-access station, community members are also encouraged to get involved in the broadcast, production, or behind-the-scenes work.

WXJM's transmitter sits atop Burress Hall on the JMU campus. The transmitter is powered with 390 watts. The official range of the station is about 5 miles, but it can be heard at times in Staunton, which is approximately 20 miles southwest of the station.

The station, while student run, reports to the JMU Media Board, which is under the jurisdiction of the University Board of Visitors.

Every spring, WXJM holds the Mid-Atlantic College Radio Conference (or MACRoCk) at various venues in and around James Madison University. Some MACRoCks have drawn over 100 bands and over 4,000 concertgoers.
