Waka/Jawaka
Encyclopedia : W : WA : WAK : Waka/Jawaka
Waka/Jawaka is an album by Frank Zappa, released in 1972.
It is the jazz-influenced musical precursor to The Grand Wazoo, and, as the front cover indicates, a sequel of sorts to 1969's groundbreaking Hot Rats. The songs could be described as "engagingly quirky jazzy horn-dominated constructions".
The title is an onomatopoetic reference to the rhythmic guitar sound that was becoming popular of the time.
