Wase

Wase is a traditional state in the southern Plateau State of Nigeria. It is also the name of a Nigerian town and river. The town lies at the crossing of roads from Bashar, Langtang, and Shendam.

The Wase state was founded 1820, and became part of the British Niger River Protectorate (later Northern Nigeria) in 1898.

In 2005, there are reports of Islamic fundamentalists attacking non-muslims, with a death toll in the thousands [link].
