We Wish You A Merry Christmas

Encyclopedia : W : WE : WEW : We Wish You A Merry Christmas

"We Wish You a Merry Christmas" is a traditional English carol in which the carolers ask for a reward for singing. It is one of the only traditional holiday carols that makes mention of the New Year's celebration.

The first stanza of the song was used in the Gloria Estefan version of "Silver Bells". In many Christmas specials shown on television, it is usually the ending song sung by the cast of the show, be it animated or live action, to the viewers watching.

Lyrics

We wish you a Merry Christmas,
We wish you a Merry Christmas,
We wish you a Merry Christmas,
And a Happy New Year!

Good tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Good tidings for Christmas And a Happy New Year!

Now bring us some figgy pudding,
Now bring us some figgy pudding,
Now bring us some figgy pudding,
And bring some right here!

Good tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Good tidings for Christmas
And a Happy New Year!

For we all like a figgy pudding,
We all like a figgy pudding,
We all like a figgy pudding,
So bring some right here!

Good tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Good tidings for Christmas
And a Happy New Year!

And we won't go till we've got some,
We won't go till we've got some,
We won't go till we've got some,
So bring some right here!

Good tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Good tidings for Christmas
And a Happy New Year!
