Weaver fish
Encyclopedia : W : WE : WEA : Weaver fish
The weaver fish is a small fish (about 10-15 cm in length), commonly found around the British Isles in warm weather. It has venomous spines along its dorsal fin, which although extremely painful, seldom leads to death.
The fish is very well camouflaged, and may hide under the sand during the low tide.
Treatment
As the venom is deactivated by heat, the affected region should be immersed for 15 minutes in the hottest water that can be comfortably tolerated. If this is done, the worst of the pain should subside within a few minutes.
